| How to Create a Christmas Snowfall Effect Posted: 16 Dec 2013 01:44 AM PST Today I’m featuring a timely effect by one of our favorite designers, Paul Crowe of Spice Up Your Blog. Featuring snowflakes of various sizes, this animated snowfall effect is perfect for sprucing up your website for the holidays, plus it’s fairly easy to execute. Once you’ve gotten the hang of the basic code, you can also try tweaking it to your liking to change the snowflakes according to size, color, and frequency. Make sure you’re using the new Blogger dashboard for this. 1. Open your Blogger dashboard menu, then click on Choose Template >> Edit HTML. Watch Paul’s video below:
2. Click Ctrl+F to locate </head> in your blog’s HTML code. 3. Copy & paste the following code before </head>. However, if your blog’s HTML already has the first line of jQuery code (highlighted in red) then there’s no need to add that line anymore. <script src=’https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.js’/> <script> 4. You can also change the code’s settings (highlighted in green) by following the format below: minSize: 25, - Adjusts the minimum snowflake size.
newOn: 300, - Changes the snowfall frequency (the higher the number, the more snowflakes).
For any other questions, you can get in touch with Mr. Crowe via his blog post here. |
