India to seek US help in monitoring messaging services such as BBM, WhatsApp and Viber

Posted: 03 Dec 2013 06:36 AM PST

India will seek US help to intercept chats from mobile messaging services such as Viber, Whatsapp, Skype, WeChat and BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), according to a recent report from The Economic Times. Police chiefs of both the countries would meet in the national capital in a two-day meet on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss the matter, says the agenda note circulated by the Indian Home Ministry. There are reports from the intelligence bureau that anti-social elements and terrorists might be using these mobile messaging services. It also adds that, access to their web servers in India is required for legal interception of communications in real time for timely action by security and intelligence agencies. Since these messaging services use data, it is not easy to trace the person unless you get access to their servers. There is no guarantee that the required information will be provided at all, said the Indian Union Home Ministry in its note.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite rumored to debut at MWC 2014

Posted: 03 Dec 2013 04:56 AM PST

Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite was rumored to debut at the MWC 2014, now SamMobile reports that the Galaxy Note 3 Lite (SM-N7505) would be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2014. Since Samsung has already launched mini variants of the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4, we can expect a Lite version of the Note 3. We don't have the complete specifications of the device yet, but the report says that Samsung is testing both 5.49 and 5.7-inch screen sizes since it has leaked in shipping manifests recently. Samsung might use a LCD screen instead of a Super AMOLED screen and the camera would be downgraded to 8-megapixel, says the report. It is likely to come with stylus support, and might compete with the recently launched LG G Pro Lite Dual. The Galaxy S4 mini (GT-I9192) that launched in India earlier this year had dual SIM support, so there are chances for the Note 3 Lite to come with dual SIM support. What do you think? Will you get a Lite version of the Note 3 at a cheaper rate, if Samsung releases one ?

The mobile handset market today is pretty much dominated with phones powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset or a MediaTek chipset. But there are certainly few other players as well. You might be aware of Samsung's Exynos chips and also Apple's own custom chips found on the iPhone and iPad. Then there are Nvidia & Intel too. Another player who is not very popular in the market at least in India is Broadcom. The company is finally talking and had invited us to a Mobility Roundtable in New Delhi few days back where I got to speak to several executives from the Irvine , California-based company. You might have heard about the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos, which is one the most popular phones to be powered by a Broadcom BCM28155 chipset. Another device which was powered by the same chip was the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus. Recently Broadcom has teamed up with XOLO to launch the Q1000 Opus smartphone which is powered by the new BCM23550 quad-core chipset which is expected to bring a lot of features found only in high-end smartphones to devices priced at a more affordable segment. The company has entered into an agreement with several handset makers including ...

The second leg of the "Best Smartphone of 2013" championship's Round 1 begins today with an interesting battle. It's the Apple iPhone 5s, the Cupertino company's latest flagship device vs Google's latest iteration of its famed Nexus line, the Nexus 5. Apple and Google might have been close partners before, but ever since Android happened, Apple has been seeing Google as a threat. For sure, Android has very well catapulted into leadership in the market, but most of it is attributed to third party players like Samsung. With that said, Nexus 5 is Google's own, only made by LG and the iPhone 5s is well, the best iPhone till date, as all the new iPhones have been. Out of these two, which one would you pick? It's time to cast your votes. Lets have a quick look at both the phones' specifications first, just to familiarize with them again - Apple iPhone 5s Specifications 4 inch Retina display with 1136x640 resolution - 326 PPI Touch ID - Biometric fingerprint sensor New Gold and Space Gray ...
