KISSmetrics: 7 Powerful and Easy Sources of Embeddable Social Testimonials |
7 Powerful and Easy Sources of Embeddable Social Testimonials Posted: 09 Dec 2013 10:38 AM PST Do you need more testimonials for your business? If people are talking about your products and services on social media, then you can tap into word-of-mouth marketing and turn mentions into credible testimonials on your website. The following are seven social networks that allow you to embed publicly posted content on your website. Here's how to find the public updates that will make for glowing testimonials. 1. Twitter TestimonialsOne of the great things about using Twitter as a source for testimonials is that it generally is easy to find people who are happy to give a 140 character commercial on something they love. Even the busiest people have enough time to write a tweet! Searching for and saving great Twitter testimonials is easy, too. Simply review your mentions on a daily basis and favorite any that stand out as potential testimonials. You also can do searches using the Twitter search box for your @username, business name, or product names and words like highly recommend, love, use, and like. Favorite the great tweets you find there as well. Once you have finished searching for great tweets to use, go to your profile's favorites using the URL http://twitter.com/username/favorites to see the tweets you saved. Pick a tweet you'd like to add to your website and click the More link underneath it to reveal the Embed Tweet option. When you copy the embed code and place it on your website, it will look like this. It's that simple! Now, let's look at some other social network testimonials you can use. 2. Facebook TestimonialsSince Facebook changed their search box to Graph Search, it is not possible to search for keywords in public status updates. This makes Facebook a difficult source for finding testimonials, but not necessarily impossible. You can start by looking under the Recent Posts by Others section of your Facebook page. Click the See All link to browse all of the latest posts that people have made on your page or tagged your page in. When you find one that makes for good testimonial material, click on the timestamp link beneath the update. On the following screen, hover over the wall post and you will see a drop down arrow at the top right. Click on it to reveal the Embed Post option. When you copy the embed code and place it on your website, it will look like this.
Post by Heather Head. You also can try the old search URL to find other public posts about your business, but it shows posts from only the last month. https://www.facebook.com/search/results.php?q=crazy+egg&type=eposts Use your business name or a product name in place of crazy+egg, or use your website domain such as crazyegg.com, to find the most recent public mentions. Click on the timestamp link for the mention to get to the Embed Post option for anything good that you find. 3. YouTube TestimonialsFinding a video testimonial, depending on how big or well-known your business is, could be kind of tough; but nonetheless, it's worth the search. Using the search box, look for videos with your business or product names in them. To narrow down the field if you find a lot of them, include keywords like highly recommend, love, use, and like. Be sure to review the video and the text in the video description. If everything looks good, then click on the Share tab beneath the video, and then click the Embed option. Be sure to also uncheck the "Show suggested videos" box before you copy the embed code. This will prevent visitors who are viewing your testimonial from getting distracted by related videos. When you copy the embed code and place it on your website, it will look like this. You also can look for videos from well-known media outlets and bloggers who have reviewed your products. Potential customers of your website might find a write-up by TechCrunch just as impressive as a testimonial. 4. Google+ TestimonialsGoogle+ is a source of testimonials with great search functionality and embed options. Start by searching for your business or product names plus keywords like highly recommend, love, use, and like. Then click on Google+ Posts at the top of search results to narrow them down to just posts. When you see a good post, hover over it and click on the drop down arrow. This will give you the Embed Post option. When you copy the embed code and place it on your website, it will look like this. Note that you also will have to add an additional piece of JavaScript on your website. If you are using the Google +1 button on your website, that code should already be on your website. 5. Pinterest TestimonialsIf your business or products are image friendly, there's a good chance you might have some pins that would make for great testimonials on Pinterest. Start by searching for your business or product names and add keywords like highly recommend, love, use, and like to narrow down the results if necessary. When you see a pin that stands out as a potential testimonial, click on it. When you click on the Share icon at the top right of the pin, you will see the sharing options. Click on Your Website to create a pin widget. Here, you'll get a preview of what your pin will look like embedded on your website. Scroll down to find the JavaScript code and embed code for the pin. If you have a Pin It button on your website, the JavaScript code should already be on your website. When you copy the embed code and place it on your website, it will look like this. I love Dell.. Have had a few computers and laptops from them. And they are fantastic!!Pinned by Roshni PatelOnto Products I Love Be sure to check any links to the pins, as people can click through to the pin on Pinterest and then the link. 6. Instagram TestimonialsIt's hard to search Instagram, so the next best thing for discovering Instagram testimonials is to use Twitter search since many people send their Instagrams to their Twitter accounts. On Twitter, you will search for instagram.com/p/ plus your business or product names and keywords like highly recommend, love, use, and like. When you click on the Instagram link in the tweet, you will be taken to that post on Instagram. Click on the triple dot button next to the comment field to get the Embed option. When you copy the embed code and place it on your website, it will look like this. Instagrams, especially, would be great on a page about how customers love your products, use your products, etc., as they will be the most casual testimonials of all. The more Instagrams you embed, the more people will see how much your customers love your products. 7. Vine TestimonialsSearching for Vine testimonials is similar to searching for Instagram testimonials – it's best to do it on Twitter. You will search for vine.co/v/ plus your business or product names and keywords like highly recommend, love, use, and like. When you click on the Vine link in the tweet, you will be taken to that post on Vine. Click on the embed button to the left of the video to get the embed code. When you copy the embed code and place it on your website, it will look like this. Be sure to use the Postcard display option (as shown above) to ensure the user and the commentary are included with the video you embed on your website. Why isn't LinkedIn mentioned? While LinkedIn is the network for professional recommendations, they have not created a feature to embed recommendations outside of their website. The best thing you can do is use a screen capture program (I prefer Jing as it's free and works on both PC and Mac) and create a screenshot of your testimonials like this. For now, if you want an officially embedded option, use the LinkedIn Recommend Button. This button will show the number of recommendations you have for a specific product or service on your LinkedIn company page.
When people click on the button, they can recommend your product or service to help you build testimonials for your product. But as for the testimonials themselves, you will have to screenshot them until LinkedIn offers an embedding option. Where Should You Put These Embeddable Testimonials? Here are some ideas on where to put these testimonials. Keep in mind you’ll probably want to test their effectiveness. Adding the simplest element to any webpage can sometimes dramatically change conversion rates.
In Conclusion…Testimonials can help turn a visitor who is interested in your product into a customer. Social media networks that have embeddable posts can help you share great recommendations for your business, products, and services on your website. So be on the lookout for great mentions of your brand on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram, and Vine to share with your audience. You'll be glad you did!
