BBM Voice to be available on Android, iOS starting February

BlackBerry's popular instant messaging service, BBM, introduced voice calls support early last year to help it compete with more feature packed rivals. Alongside voice calls, it also brought in an interesting new Channels feature that lets users create groups to share content, location information. These features have so far been exclusive to BlackBerry devices. We first spotted BBM Voice support for Android in the beta channels. Krishadeep Baruah, Senior Director of channel marketing in APAC for BlackBerry has now revealed that an update coming sometime next month will bring both the features to Android, iOS users. Revealed in an interview with the Times of India, Baruah also claims that video calling features too will be available across platforms later this year. BBM Voice will make it a compelling alternatives to the likes of Viber and Line given its sizeable userbase and popularity in India. As the company's market share drops, it aims to create new revenue streams through private BBM channels. The report goes on to state that Indian brands like Airtel, Cafe Coffee Day and Gaana.com have already launched their channels. Expect to see the application being updated sometime next month. Nokia launches Season 2 of Your Wish is my App contest

Nokia has launched the second season of the Your Wish is my App contest, which will include consumers and developers from across the globe. It launched the first season back in December 2012. It lets you submit mobile application ideas that would be developed into successful apps for the Windows Phone Store, if it wins. How to participate? Twitter/Facebook: Post your idea either on your Twitter handle or FB page and tag it with #YourWishIsMyApp. Nokia India FB page: Visit the Nokia India FB page, click on the YWMA tab and enter your idea. SMS: send your ideas to 55555 (YWMA followed by app idea) This will be judged by Rajiv Makhni, Vishal Gondal, Sanjeev Bickhchandani and Vikas Khanna, and Kalki Koechlin. MTNL makes incoming calls free while roaming between Mumbai and Delhi

As expected, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has launched free incoming calls for their customers in Delhi and Mumbai. This would let them attend calls from any network for free of cost, without any packs while roaming between Mumbai and Delhi. The company launched new packs for free roaming last year in these circles for free roaming. Regarding the new MTNL offer, Telecom Minister, Kapil Sibal, in his tweet, said, Setting an example for "One Nation, One Rate" - Pleased to announce Free Roaming in Mumbai & Delhi, for MTNL's GSM customers. The Cabinet had approved New Telecom Policy 2012 back in May 2012 that detailed on removing roaming charges across India under One Nation-Free Roaming. Last year TRAI said that providing free roaming is not possible since it would hit operators, so it recommended unlimited roaming through Special Tariff Vouchers (STVs) and Combo Vouchers. Most of the operators introduced free roaming with packs and vouchers starting at Rs. 5 per day. BSNL is also expected to launch free roaming plans in their circles, but it would cost Re. 1 per day.
