Posted: 21 Feb 2014 08:02 PM PST

Yota Devices, a Russia-based company, popular for its Dual-Screen YotaPhone has started teasing about their MWC launch next week. On their Facebook page, it said, " You will be blown away when you see what we'll unveil next week at MWC in Barcelona." This doesn't confirm anything, but a recent report from a Russian website hi-tech.mail.ru and Russian daily Kommersant reveals that the YotaPhone 2 would arrive at MWC 2014. The report claims that the E-Ink display on the back would have full touch capabilities and the hardware would be improved, compared to the first YotaPhone. The company launched the first YotaPhone in December, that has a sold over 12,000 units, with 10,000 units in Russia alone. It unveiled the YotaPhone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last year. If it plans to unveil the second-generation YotaPhone, hope we can see at least a prototype of the phone at the MWC this year. FoneArena team has already reached Barcelona. You can follow our MWC 2014 coverage here. Here is a recent video, in which Vlad Martynov, CEO of Yota Devices say why they created the YotaPhone httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vz6Qy7v5SIU

WhatsApp for Android now has new privacy features in the settings, that lets you restrict access to your last seen time, profile photo and status. You can restrict the access to all these separately from the privacy settings inside your account settings. This feature is already available for iPhone users. You don't have control over your Online status. Everyone who has your phone number in their contacts list can see that you're online when you open WhatsApp unless that person has been blocked by you. That status will disappear a minute after you close the app. If you swipe out the app from the recent apps menu, it will go away immediately, says a Reddit user. Even though updated version on Google is version 2.11.152, you can download the new v2.11.169 from the WhatsApp website. Posted: 21 Feb 2014 12:52 AM PST

MediaTek, the maker of chipsets that usually find their home in low - mid range devices, is making a push for LTE connectivity. We reported on the MediaTek MT6595 chip earlier this month that aims to combine a Cortex A17 based quad core chip with a 4G LTE modem. Now the company is all set to launch offerings in the entry level to midrange segments. The MT6732 chip will do just that. The MediaTek MT6732 is a 64 bit quad core chipset with a built in 4G LTE modem. The Economic Daily News reports that this chipset will be introduced at MWC. The MT6732 is poised to give competition to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 chipset. The Snapdragon 410 is Qualcomm's first 64bit chipset that is based on the Cortex A53 architecture. Aimed at mainstream smartphones, it also includes LTE connectivity. While the MT6732 will be introduced in Q3 2014, the company is also said to be planning an octa core 64 bit LTE enabled chip for Q4 2014. Google announces Project Tango, to help phones understand surroundings

Posted: 20 Feb 2014 11:09 PM PST

When Google bought Motorola, they got most of their teams and when they let go, they made sure they kept the ATAP(Advanced Technology And Projects) group. Now, Google has announced their latest Project Tango which is a smartphone that can measure dimensions of the surroundings. Project Tango is an ambitious project from Google and is now currently a 5inch Android running smartphone that comes with specialized software and hardware to map the world around it. The prototype phone comes with sensors allow the phone to make over a quarter million 3D measurements every second, updating its position and orientation in real-time, combining that data into a single 3D model of the space around you.The device runs on Android and supports development APIs to provide position, orientation, and depth data to standard Android applications written in Java, C/C++, as well as the Unity Game Engine. According to Google, these early prototypes, algorithms, and APIs are still in active development. Google is currently inviting developers to try out their new Project Tango device and they have only 200 dev kits. They want developers to build applications that make use of indoor navigation/mapping, single/multiplayer games that use physical space, and new algorithms for processing sensor data.

Karbonn Titanium S5 Plus Review

Posted: 20 Feb 2014 10:51 PM PST

As the market gets flooded with large display devices at ever more appealing price points, buyers are spoilt for choice. While the likes of Micromax and Spice are the elephants in the room, Karbonn isn't far behind either. The brand new Karbonn Titanium S5 Pro brings a large display, above average performance to a very appealing price point. Read on to find out our opinion of the phone. Hardware First impressions make a difference and the Karbonn Titanium S5 Pro certainly makes a good one. Clean lines are visible with the white front surrounded by a faux chrome bezel. Above the display is an earpiece grille flanked by the front facing camera and the proximity sensor. The dimensions of the phone are quite svelte at just 138 x 70.5 x 7.9 mm. The slim bezels around the display further make the device feel quite small.   Karbonn has eschewed the capacitive buttons for onscreen controls and the end result is a very clean design. The buttons hide away during media playback and so don't really encroach upon screen estate. We were very pleasantly surprised by the 5inch qHD panel used here and we'll talk more about this later in the review. [gallery ids="96426,96430,96429"] Moving over to the sides, ...
