So, how much of an upgrade is the Grand 2 over the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos? We find out in a hands on comparison video, exploring all the possible differences - <check back for the video in some time, text and photos past the break> Here is the Galaxy Grand Duos on the left and the Galaxy Grand 2 on the right. Rightware launches Basemark OS II for Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows Phone 8 Posted: 20 Jan 2014 06:00 AM PST Rightware launched the Basemark OS II cross-platform benchmarking tool for Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows Phone 8. It is built on Rightware's own engine (BOS2Engine) and includes performance tests for system operations, permanent storage reading/writing, 2D/3D graphics rendering and web browser features across all 3 major mobile platforms. This runs all tests with the same code in the same language which makes the benchmark reliable among operating systems, says Righrware. The engine centralizes all user-interface elements in its internal rendering module which uses OpenGL ES2 for Android and iOS devices and DirectX 11 for Windows Phone 8, this makes all visible entities (including the application interface and graphics tests) look exactly the same in all platforms. The benchmark has four main test categories: CPU Tests (single core Speed and multi core Speed), Storage Tests, GPU tests and Web Browser Tests. It also has extra tests that benchmark Battery, External Storage test and Camera test. The Battery Performance and External Storage tests are available only in paid full version. These do not affect the overall score. We will bring you performance comparison tests on all three platforms soon. Commenting on the launch, Teemu Uotila, Director of Benchmark Unit of Rightware, said, We are immensely proud in advancing the general public's understanding of the performance differences of ... |
Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Photo Gallery Posted: 20 Jan 2014 03:22 AM PST Samsung entered the mid-range phablet category with the Samsung Galaxy Grand at the end of 2012 and it has been a huge success for them. A year later, they announced the successor of Galaxy Grand with specifications matching(or slightly better) than their yesteryear flagship - Samsung Galaxy S3. The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has just been launched in India and we brought you the unboxing just a few hours back. Now we are bringing you the photo gallery of what may be yet another successful Galaxy device for Samsung. Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is undoubtedly better than the original Galaxy Grand. It outdoes the predecessor both in terms of internals and externals. The design language has seen some noticeable changes and it will be the trend that Samsung is likely to follow through 2014. The form factor of the Galaxy Grand 2 now resembles the Galaxy devices in 2013 with a taller body and thinner bezels. The core design language of Samsung Galaxy devices continues to be same with an all plastic build and a false chrome metal rim around the device. One of the most noticeable features of the Galaxy Grand 2 is the faux leather finish on the back which ... |
New Samsung TouchWiz UI leak reveals Google Now-like notifications Posted: 20 Jan 2014 02:54 AM PST New Samsung TouchWiz UI for phones featuring new flat icons and Magazine UX elements leaked earlier this month. Now @evleaks has posted a new screenshot of the upcoming TouchWiz UI on phones that reveals Google Now-like notification screen. This looks similar to Windows Phone Live Tile UI that would delivers notifications, but also offers contextual information like Google Now. More from that Samsung home screen. pic.twitter.com/5Z0jKKxXYN — @evleaks (@evleaks) January 19, 2014 These screenshots are stitched together from multiple ones to show the features, hence it is not even. Since Google Now is available for Android devices running on Android 4.1 and later, Samsung might have used their own code to gather data regarding user's location, recent purchases, flight information, workout activity, local weather and more. The new TouchWiz UI is more promising than other TouchWiz interface we have seen on Samsung smartphones so far. The new UI might debut on recently launched Samsung PRO tablets or the Samsung Galaxy S5 that rumored to launch close to MWC 2014 next month. |
Nokia Lumia 1520 Official Flip Case Photo Gallery Posted: 20 Jan 2014 02:46 AM PST Nokia Lumia 1520 is Nokia's best Windows Phone yet. We recently reviewed the device and you can check out the review here. Along with the phone, Nokia also announced and launched an official flip case for the giant device. Keeping up with the trend of things, Nokia's Flip case also doubles as a stand for the phone. We have the case with us and we are bringing you the photo gallery of this case. Being an official case, the device fits perfectly into the case and has no problems whatsoever. The case is priced at Rs. 2,999 and hardly looks that premium. The back has a plastic mold for fitting the device while the front is a rubbery material with vertically foldable bends in the middle. The bendable front is meant for the case to be used as a stand when using the device in landscape orientation. Because the Nokia Lumia 1520 is quite heavy, the case is hardly able to support the device. Most of the times you will see the phone hitting the floor or desk when you use the flip case as a stand. Unlike Apple's Smart Cover for iPad or the Samsung S-View cover for Galaxy series, this flip ... |

LG G Pro Lite Dual Review Posted: 19 Jan 2014 08:15 PM PST LG launched the G Pro Lite Dual, the company's latest mid-range smartphone with a 5.5-inch screen and Dual SIM support in India, back in October last year. We already brought you the Benchmarks and the photo gallery of the smartphone recently. Here we have the complete review of the smartphone. Is this phone better than other large-screen phones in the similar range? Let us find out in the complete review. Hardware and Design The 5.5-inch IPS display at a resolution of 960 by 540 has a pixel density of just 200 PPI. The display is definitely not impressive and the colors are not vibrant. The sunlight legibility too is poor. Since the phone lacks an ambient light sensor, you have to adjust the brightness manually while viewing videos. The screen is glossy and is fingerprint magnet. On the top you have an earpiece. Since this is present on the top edge, you'll need some time to get used to it. On the right there is a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) camera. Next to it is the Proximity sensor. It doesn't have an ambient light sensor, which is disappointing. There are capacitive touch buttons for back, home, menu and dedicated SIM switching, below the display. These are ... |
