| Huawei Ascend W3 rumored to be unveiled during CES 2014 Posted: 04 Jan 2014 12:39 PM PST Among the plethora of home appliances and tech gadgets that are announced and ready to be shown off at the CES 2014 in the coming days, there are rumors circulating that Huawei will announce a Windows Phone device in Las Vegas during CES 2014. This information falls nicely in place after Huawei announced their commitment towards the Windows Phone platform in September and they seem to be undisturbed by the fact that Microsoft now owns Nokia which holds more than 90% of the WP market share. Huawei Ascend W3 is rumored to be the successor of Huawei Ascend W2 which was a mid-range Windows Phone smartphone. According to leaked rumors, the specifications of Ascend W3 don't go beyond the budget range and it is expected to come with a slightly bigger and better display(supposedly 720x1280 pixels). Despite being complacent in specifications, Huawei seem to be bothered about the build quality as the Ascend W3 is expected to sport a thin all aluminum build and is expected to follow a design language close to the Huawei Ascend P6. BBM Channels was released for BlackBerry devices that lets you join conversations happening with the BBM community such as brands and communities. It also brings faster and better sharing of photos to and new emoticons. | Sony schedules an event on January 14th in China, Xperia Z1 mini expected Posted: 03 Jan 2014 10:17 PM PST Sony would unveil a host of home appliances, gadgets and mobile devices at the International CES next week. Sony China has set a press event in China on January 14th 2014. Even though the press invite doesn't reveal much details , the colors in the Sony China invite shows Lime, Black, White and Pink, similar to the Sony Xperia Z1 f (SO-02F), the Japanese variant of the Z1 mini that was released for NTT Docomo last year. The Sony Xperia Z1 mini is expected to have a slightly different design from the Z1 f, but the specifications are expected to be similar. It has a 4.3-inch (1280 x 720pixels) Triluminos Display with with X-Reality engine, powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Sony G lens with a 27mm wide angle f/2.0 aperture custom 1/2.3″ Sony Exmor RS image sensor, BIONZ image processing engine, 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel HD front-facing camera, similar to the Xperia Z1. | Corning announces 3D Shaped Gorilla Glass for mobiles and wearable devices Posted: 03 Jan 2014 09:40 PM PST Every year at CES, we are used to seeing a new version of the Corning Gorilla Glass for protecting our smartphone displays, but this year Corning are introducing new. Corning has announced that the new generation of 3D Shaped Gorilla glass is ready for mass production in 2014. Among the current smartphones, most smartphones use a layer of curved glass for protection and Corning aims to target this market with thier 3D Shaped glass. They are working with GTOC(G-Tech Optoelectronics Corp) to set up a integration operating in Taiwan and they hope to take the Corning gorilla glass from a flat sheet of glass to 3D shaped glass in Asia. Corning claims that the new method will be considerably economical than the already present two-fold molding process and they hope to achieve precise tolerance and high thoroughput. The newest generation of Corning Gorilla Glass will be of uniform thickness and hence it will help the products be lightweight and thinner. Corning are hoping to mark their authority over the emergence of conformable displays for mobile and wearable applications with their 3D shaped Gorilla glasses. |
